We ventured to nearby picturesque Point Lobos State Park just 8 minutes away: really enjoyed Whalers Cove for sea watching. The Big Sur drive was spectacular with al fresco dining at panoramic views at Nepenthe. Whale watching was cool. Pebble Beach a must see- and the food was fantabulous ( try the best lobster salad ever on the Stillwater patio) or the woodfired strawberries at The Bench sitting by the outdoor fireplaces. Local Carmel eatery fav was Basil; be sure to leave room for the limoncello cheesecake! Mission Ranch is tranquil with its pastoral views! Find time to chill lax at The Refuge Resort...again another fine recommendation from this Cottage’s stellar Host Barry! We loved staying here; you will too! My mother and I stayed here for a week and loved every single thing about the place - from the decor, to the details of the home, the yard, the neighbors, and the LIGHT, oh the glorious light inside the home. “Anniversary Tree Top Heaven

We spent our 25th wedding anniversary at Barry’s cottage and had our best stay ever in Carmel as a result! The location is perfect as we walked everywhere when we did things in town. When you walk into this adorably appointed cottage, you feel as though you are in a tree house with lots of windows letting in the natural light. Barry had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable from comfy bed and linens, great lighting, fully stocked kitchen with every appliance, utensil, dishware, fan to sleep by, large flat screen TV, along with leaving a bottle of wine and a cheese board in the frig! We have been to Carmel many times but we honestly felt as though this was our best visit due in major part to this lovely cottage....we couldn’t wait to come back to it after our days of hiking and sightseeing. The décor is very Restoration Hardware style with wonderful neutral shades that simply are soothing and relaxing . Barry was wonderful to work with and we plan on returning again and again! We have stayed at Highlands Inn, Cypress Inn, along with several of the other smaller motels around the downtown area have already passed along this cottage to friends and family as the best place we have stayed in the Carmel area.”

STOP... look no further and book here now ;-) In a nutshell: The cottage is beautiful and perfect and the owner, Barry, is amazing, caring and kind. (He has literally poured his heart into the cultivation of all that is the Starfish Cottage and you feel that the moment you walk in.) The details: Location - I didn’t get a car, no need, walking distance to and from town, market and ocean (uber-ed anywhere else) Kitchen - fully stocked, little wine and cheese surprise upon arrival, stopped at the market and made some home cooked meals during my stay Bed - like sleeping on a cloud (pillow lovers... it’s a dream come true) Great TV and internet (worked from the cottage for a few days, no issues) Laundry Room - full access, great for staying the week or more Ability to contact owner (Barry) - very very easy with quick response time Book it. (Just not when I want to come back ;-) Enjoy! You’ll love it.”

“Outstanding cottage in the heart of Carmel

Barry has created an outstanding, yet intimate property for a great getaway in our favorite community of Carmel by the sea. Convenient walk to beach, shopping and great restaurants! The owner has filled the home with all the best in bedding, top of line towels and fine cooking and coffee devices. He has outfitted the home with some great technology like Alexa for playing music, etc; a super thermometer with quiet heating system and an excellent HDTV TV and top notch cable/ recording setup! The property is maintained super. The property provides great privacy and parking for two vehicles. Thank you Barry for a great week and all of the personal attention given to this “little jewel”! Inviting, cozy, clean, great character, all the amenities, and the location is excellent...easy walk to downtown Carmel restaurants and shops; and a short walk to the beach. “A wonderful, relaxing June stay in beautiful Carmel

We enjoyed a memorable month in Barry’s lovely little cottage amid the heritage oaks and beautiful landscaping. It was like being in a treehouse and came complete with tree-hopping squirrels and an adorable little rabbit. The cottage is compact, comfortable, beautifully decorated and the fully-equipped kitchen was perfect for some home-cooked meals when we didn’t want to dine out. The king bed and luxurious linens made it difficult to get out of bed some mornings. We were particularly delighted to be so close to both downtown Carmel and the Scenic Drive along the beach. We parked our car and walked almost everywhere except for shopping and sightseeing trips. Barry is a wonderful host and checked in on us several times to be sure we wanted for nothing. There was a bottle of wine, cheese, and crackers awaiting us when we arrived and he brought by a bottle of champagne and local chocolates for our anniversary. He is an invaluable source of information about local restaurants and points of interest. We had a wonderful vacation at “Carmel’s Coziest Cottage” and look forward to returning in the future.”

I had the pleasure of staying at this charming cottage in Carmel-by-the-Sea in late March. The cottage is cuter and cozier than depicted in the photos...it is a true find! Barry has thought of every detail to ensure his guests have a five star experience from the thoughtful note, wine and cheese awaiting your arrival to all details incorporated into the cottage to ensure an extremely comfortable stay. The compact kitchen was very well equipped should you choose to have a romantic, quiet evening at home listening to the ocean. The bed is large and cozy with luxurious linens ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep...best nights sleep I have had in a long time. The location was perfect...walking distance to restaurants, shopping, a market and the beach. I have stayed at all the five star hotels on the peninsula in the past but if you are looking for a truly personal, unique experience with amenities that rival that top hotels, I would recommend staying at this cozy cottage!”
